Modernizing transportation system management with location
Learn how location can serve as the foundation of an authoritative system of record.
Managing transportation systems and infrastructure is a complex process. There are many aspects and components to consider and coordinate, from traffic patterns to the state of assets and the ways in which these interact with the broader area in which they are situated. There is often also ambiguity regarding these aspects and components – for example, what is the state of a particular linear asset? How up to date is that information? Who has access to it and who might need access to it? Similarly, it can be difficult to coordinate and communicate with stakeholders given the complexity of the job. Getting the right information to the right people is not always a straightforward task.
There are means of reducing some of this complexity, enabling clarity and facilitating more effective communication. An authoritative system of record provides the foundation to do so. To be effective, an authoritative system of record must be able to consolidate data from many different sources in many different formats into a cohesive view. In the below video, Transportation Industry Manager, Arif K. Rafiq explains how location is able to provide incorporate these different data into a cohesive view.
Here, Arif explains how data can be used to provide the context and clarity necessary for effective collaboration between stakeholders
This next video explores the importance of a common unified approach to transportation management for enabling simpler and smoother collaboration with expert and non-expert stakeholders.
Themes such as the above were discussed during our recent virtual seminar, Modernizing the Transportation System: From Complex to Collaborative. Watch the session recordings to learn more about how to unify the many moving parts of transportation systems and enable smoother collaboration and faster, more informed decision-making.
