Celebrate GIS Day every day!
Let’s celebrate GIS Day every day! Discover ways you can integrate maps and data into your teaching to keep students engaged in their learning using ArcGIS.
Are you a teacher looking to jazz up lessons, or are you someone who’s been using maps in your teaching for a long time now? Well, either way, we want educators across Canada to consider using geographic information systems (GIS) in their teaching every day. So, let’s celebrate GIS Day beyond that special day in November.
GIS Day is officially on Wednesday November 17th this year, but we can celebrate it every day using ArcGIS!
We’ve compiled a list of resources from our Resource Finder on ways you can get started:
For Beginners
- For educators – Introduction to ArcGIS Online
- For students – Enroute with ArcGIS Online
For Intermediate users
More tutorials for different level of users:
Explore topics and current events with GIS
No matter what level of user you are, explore these maps and applications to see how GIS is used to cover topics and current events. Incorporate them into student learning by adding questions to the selected material and assigning them as homework or in class assignments.
Invite a GIS Ambassador to explore GIS with your colleagues or students
This fall’s initiative “Let’s Get Spatial Canada” is aimed at encouraging K-12 educators to bring GIS to K-12 classrooms across the country. Request a GIS Ambassador today and don’t forget to share your event/visit with us. You might be highlighted in an upcoming blog post.
