History Resources: Lessons
The Battle of Vimy Ridge
In this lesson, students will gain a deeper understanding of the significance of the battle of Vimy Ridge to Canadians both at the time of the event and in present day.
The History of Acadians in Canada
In this lesson, students will create maps to present the history of Acadians in Canada, including significant places and key historical events that directly impacted them.
The Red River and North West Rebellions/Resistance
In this lesson, students will identify key events, battles and persons during the Red River and North West Rebellions/Resistance and investigate how they continue to affect us today.
With ArcGIS Online, students can learn about historical events like the battle of Vimy Ridge from a different perspective.

In this activity, students use the Canadian Grand Prix Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as a means to practice D=vT, measuring irregular shapes, and C=2πr.
Measuring Area and Perimeter: The West Edmonton Mall Activity
In this activity, students use an aerial photograph of the West Edmonton Mall (Alberta) to determine the area and perimeter of the mall and consider the benefits and effects of other shape permutations.
