Map of the Month: Toronto Property Permeability
The data presented on this map represents the permeability of each municipal parcel within the City of Toronto. The City's 2021 permeability dataset was generated by a supervised image classification and segmentation process, using the City of Toronto’s 2021 multispectral aerial imagery dataset. As part of the quality control process, potential errors in the resultant dataset were then manually reclassified. The data has been symbolized by percentage permeable. It was then overlaid upon the City of Toronto's bare earth LiDAR hillshade.
Community Map of Canada - Style of the Month: "Sweet As Honey"
To mark nearing the end of peak honey collection season in Canada, the Community Map of Canada Style of the Month for September has been customized with bees and honey in mind. The colour palette of this custom "Sweet As Honey" basemap uses rich yellow colours inspired by honeybees and honey. Large beehives symbolize provincial capitals and smaller honeybee icons represent major cities. Lines on the map (such as roads, trails, borders) are a dark brown colour, resembling the honeybee's recognizable dark stripes.
This creative custom basemap style was created by Community Maps GIS Analyst Malena McCrossan using the ArcGIS Vector Tile Style Editor and is available in the gallery among other custom basemap styles.
With its twice-weekly update frequency and community data sourced directly from contributors, the Community Map of Canada basemap is surely a (bee)keeper!

Preparing for Change
As organizations deploy modern geospatial capabilities to improve their operations, a common challenge is preparing the impacted workforce to adopt new workflows. This interactive, hands-on course guides attendees through the foundational steps of conducting a successful change management initiative using the popular Prosci ADKAR model of change management. Class time is devoted to open discussion on change management best practices and focused planning time. Course materials include templates that attendees can use to jumpstart change management efforts immediately after class.
Managers and others who are modernizing GIS-supported workflows, planning new ArcGIS deployments or expanding ArcGIS access outside their current user bases will benefit from this course. To get the most value, we recommend that attendees identify a planned or in-progress project that will benefit from change management prior to class. This course is also available as a private training event for teams working on shared initiatives.
