Tech Corner: Line Up of Latest Patches
We all might be enjoying the dog days of summer, but Esri’s technical support team is still working away, developing improvements to address issues, bugs and quirks affecting ArcGIS. Take a quick look at the latest line up of patches.
Here is an up-to-date listing of patches to help ensure your ArcGIS is optimized. If you’re not sure what bug fixes are installed on your machine, here’s a little trick: try the PatchFinder for Windows or the PatchFinder for Unix. This software will give you a report on the patches and service packs installed on your machine. You can download each one here (you’ll see them under the ‘Patches and Services Packs’ heading at the top of the page in the opening paragraph).
Also, be sure to check the FAQs and step-by-step, lesson-based tutorials listed on our Support page regularly so you can stay current on resolutions to common issues.
ArcGIS 10.2.2 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) Spatial Reference Consistency Patch
This patch corrects inconsistencies between the spatial reference of a feature class and the metadata of a geodatabase. This patch should be applied to all ArcGIS client applications that are connecting to geodatabases using Oracle. Running the geodatabase upgrade command is mandatory after applying the patch. Additional steps must be taken to create any spatial indexes that were previously dropped.
Esri Maps for IBM Cognos 5.0.1 Updating Groupings Patch
This patch addresses an issue in which groupings that are created during the map designer stage are not updated to reflect new or filtered data when viewing the map.

This patch addresses non-exploitable instances of the OpenSSL defect commonly called Heartbleed that may still exist in ArcGIS 10.1 Service Pack 1 through ArcGIS 10.2.2.
