A World Cup of Story Maps
Olé, olé, olé! The World Cup is about to start and to get you warmed up Esri has put together a number of story maps about the 32-day tournament, predicted to be the most-watched sporting event of all-time.
There is a geographical component to most things in the world and the World Cup is no exception. Esri has put together a number of interesting storymaps, all relating to the World Cup.

Included are story maps on venue locations for this year’s event in Brazil and past World Cup locations and results. The latter puts an artistic spin on things with a soccer ball pattern added to the map. If you’re lucky enough to make the trip to Brazil, there is even a story map that shows restaurants in Belo Horizonte, one of the World Cup host cities.
Others have also developed their own story map on the subject; simply do a search for “World Cup story map” on ArcGIS Online, filter the results by “apps” and start browsing.
