City of Mississauga – Leading the way in Parcel Mapping in Canada
The City of Mississauga became Canada's first organization to implement the ArcGIS Pro Parcel Fabric. Esri Canada’s Land Information Solutions team has put together an ArcGIS StoryMap that explores the modernization journey Mississauga took to move their land records from a CAD based environment to Esri technology and the benefits they’ve seen since making the switch.
The City of Mississauga is a modern, growing city in Ontario with a population of about 750,000 people and manages approximately 170,000 land parcels. Parcel mapping is a strategic City-owned asset used to identify property boundaries in support of key business activities including planning, development, public works, public safety, real estate and taxation.
In 2019, when Mississauga initiated an enterprise geographic information system (GIS) initiative based on Esri’s ArcGIS system, the modernization of its parcel mapping and associated maintenance and publication activities was identified as a top priority for the overall enterprise GIS initiative. Details on how the City modernized their parcel mapping with the help of Esri Canada’s Land Information Solutions team are available in our story—please take a look and feel free to drop us or the City of Mississauga a line if you have any questions!
